Topshop lipstick in Freak

If you could take a high school prom punch bowl and convert it into a lipstick, that lipstick would be Freak by Topshop. Bright, bold, vivid coral pink that is a slightly richer replica of MAC's Costa Chic.

If you want your lipstick to pack a punch, this is the one for you.

The texture is very creamy, and you do have to put on a few layers to fully cover your lips, but for the affordable price of £8 you can't really complain too much.

Freak is a great Summer lipstick but I think it looks better with a barely-there make-up look. Once you add bronzer, the colour loses its sophisticated appeal.

Colour Intensity: high

Finish: creamy with some shine

The Balm - Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipstick in Honest

As Honesty is the theme of this lipstick, it's only fair that I'm honest in this post. As a brand, The Balm has catapulted into stardom with starlight reviews across bloggers and vloggers. With funky packaging and products that have a sense of humour, you can see how this unique brand placed itself into the make-up bags of so many ladies around the world.

Meet Matt(e) Hughes is a range of liquid lipsticks - their mission is long lasting, kiss-proof colour that stays put. What they deliver? Exactly this.

I chose Honest because the peachy orange is a gorgeous shade; one that will definitely perk you up in the winter freeze. It only required a couple of coats to get the desired shade, and it dried instantly. Without feeling like a plaster over your mouth, Honest leaves a light layer - not quite giving you a naked lip feeling, more like its wearing delicate lace.

The colour had unbelievable lasting power, and this is one range I would buy a lot more of.

Finish: matte

L'Occitane - Pivoine Sublime Lip Balm Set

It's been a while since I've reviewed a lip set, so thought I'd start with this gorgeous trio that my mum got me for Christmas.

L'Occitane is one of those brands that I'd always peruse, try on, even have a little sniff when in store, but never buy. It's not because I don't think highly of the products - just purely have never bought many things from there.

I was very glad, however, to find this under the Christmas tree because the Pivoine Sublime caring balms are amazing. If your lips get a bit parched during the winter months, you need this!

The clear version is a standard colourless balm that is perfect for a quick swipe to keep your pout nourished. I have worn this religiously every day and it has done wonders.

The second (and the most loved of the trio) is Rose Nude. During my teens I used to adore a Blistex tinted balm - I think I wore that all the time (on non-lipstick days) but have never found a tinted lip balm to match its colour, feel and texture. Most tinted balms tend to be super creamy and leave behind a gloss-like colour which I don't like, but this is great. It provides enough colour without it feeling overly balmy. A real winner for me.

Finally, the trio contains Rose Plume. This gives the lips a rosy red that goes so well in the winter. It's not too rich, not too soft - that perfect balance that will serve you well in the cold months.

To top it off, the set comes in a gorgeous tin that makes the perfect gift, as well as acting like lipstick storage for a particular make-up hoarder :)

Colour Intensity: bare to medium

Finish: silky balm, non-sticky or heavy

Overall Rating: 4/5 - I wanted a little bit more colour variation

Charlotte Tilbury in Love Bite

One of the Christmas presents that I received was the gorgeous 'The Rebel' set by Charlotte Tilbury. I have wanted this particular set for so long because I absolutely love everything in it.

Amongst all the make-up treasures is Love Bite, a K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick that's a classic, daring red. Love Bite is the Queen Bee of all red lipsticks. It represents everything that you traditionally think with this shade: flirty vibrancy, sexy shine and seductive, creamy texture. If I ever want to create a look that's movie star sexy siren, this is what I'll be wearing.

The Rebel set also contained the lip cheat lip pencil in Kiss n' Tell. This, paired with the lipstick gives my ideal red that overtook Christmas Day. It's a happy colour without too much blue to dull it down - the neutrality makes this perfect for all skin tones.

Packed away in the Charlotte Tilbury classic case, Love Bite is a beautiful red suited to everyone.

Colour Intensity: high

Texture: creamy with shine

Topshop lipstick in Mercurial

Ethereal, fantastical nude with a pearlescent twist. If you're looking for a lipstick that is on another planet, Mercurial is the one for you.

Topshop's lipstick range has got to be my favourite affordable brand of 2016 - despite the fact that I now own most colours, I still can't help but gaze at the amazing array of shades and the quirky names. I have to admit - I'm a sucker for a great lipstick name and Mercurial might not have the loud colour that the name suggests, but it's pretty punchy once on the lips.

If you love nudes but would prefer something different, I highly recommend you go for this. The base is a cool beige but with tonnes of little flecks of silver that make your lips look like luscious pearls.

The texture is a traditional lipstick and longevity isn't really there, but as a pretty paint for the lips, it's lovely.

Colour Intensity: low

Finish: creamy texture with shine

Overall Rating: 3/5 - you need a cool, fair skin tone to pull this off

Kiko - Double Match lipstick and lipliner in 05 Daring Orchid

If you ever see me shopping in Kiko it can be likened to someone who has forgotten they have 20 people coming over for Christmas and are doing a mad rush around Sainsbury's. I can't concentrate when I'm in there, and because prices are just so good, I place things in the basket without even thinking about it.

What I love most about Kiko are the different themes that they bring out every season. Their American cheerleading theme has got to be one of my favourites, and among their delicious shades and cosmetics lies Double Match.

Double Match is a make-up saviour! I love lip liners but it can sometimes be difficult to find the right one for your favourite lipstick. With Double Match, you don't need to worry.

I chose shade 05 in Daring Orchid. This is a lovely rich, cool pink that is playful and vibrant.

The lip liner side is thin with perfect precision. The texture is very matte which does drag on the lips when you're putting it on, but the other side swipes on like a dream. I thought the actual lipstick would be similar texture to the liner, but this is the opposite. It's creamy and shiny with lots of colour power.

The combination of the two makes this lovely and long-lasting.

Colour Intensity: high

Texture: creamy with some gloss

NudeStix in Soul

If you're a follower of this blog, you'll know how much I adore NudeStix. For me, if you're looking to invest in one particular everyday wear range, this is the one for you.

The colours are simple shades that you probably weren't sure you were looking for, but once you see them, you will meet your nude colour match.

Soul is that pretty, simple, peachy nude. It's a warm shade but one that will suit most skin tones. The light coral tones will light up your complexion during dull, Winter days.

Just like all their sticks, Soul comes in a very handy tin with a mirror, as well as a sharpener. The tin is incredibly useful as those of you who have tried to carry around lip pencils willknow if the lid comes off it will go absolutely everywhere!

Colour Intensty: low

Finish: creamy, light finish with some sheen

Overall Rating: 4/5
