Lipstick Queen - 7 Deadly Sins Lip Gloss in Avarice

As always, you cannot go wrong with a Lipstick Queen purchase, so when I first heard that there would be a brand new shiny, glossy collection, I was over the moon and already planning which of my 7 Deadly Sins I would be collecting.

Avarice was not on my list. For those of you who haven't recently brushed up on 18th century English, avarice means greed. The colour that Lipstick Queen have represented for this is a deep peach - more terracotta that looks lush on lips.

The colour reminds me of Nars' Chelsea Girl which is why I wanted it as soon as I saw it (plus the fact that Space NK had not quite stocked up on the rest of the range yet).

The colour is very warm, so it enhances a muted complexion and the finish itself is non-sticky which I 100% condone in a lip gloss.

The colour intensity is very good - one swipe is all you need to be ready to go. If you layer too much, you will end up with a glossy pencil line surrounding your lips, which you do not need.

Oh, and it comes in a great packaging so it's perfect for a gift...or if you want to treat yourself.

Colour Intensity: high

Finish: High gloss and no stickiness

Overall Rating: 4/5

Topshop lipstick in Petal

If your look is to have lips more pale than your skin tone, then Topshop's Petal is the lipstick for you. Considering the barely there colour, the coverage is incredible. You only need one layer to get the Claudia Winkleman Tip-Ex signature look (sorry Claudia! I actually love you.)

As Topshop's make-up range is becoming more and more prominent, this shade is worth having and despite its vaguely familiar look, this colour is deceptively difficult to find. The finish is smooth and creamy, but the lasting factor is low and the shade does transfer easily.

All this aside, if you have a very neutral and incredibly pale tone, then this will give a gorgeous, frosty look that will be perfect for this Winter.

Colour Intensity: medium

Finish: creamy with a sheen

Overall Rating: 2/5 - not a shade for me

Rimmel - Kate Moss Collection lipstick in Kiss Of Life 111

You may have probably guessed by now that I'm a Rimmel fan. When it comes to lipsticks, Rimmel is my affordable brand of choice.

Kiss Of Life has left me with the same impact as its other equally beautiful lipstick sisters. This colour is a gorgeous red - when you twist the tube, this red looks much more autumnal and is perfect for the turning season approaching us very quickly.

Texture is light and you feel like you're not wearing such a overpowering colour, which is great for getting on with your day and not worrying about messing your lips. It's also not too creamy or sticky with little shine.

I wore this today as party of my "Autumn" look (despite it being hotter today than it has been all Summer) and teamed it with a golden orange eyeshadow and a very light touch of bronzer on the cheeks (Guerlain's Terracotta bronzer in Blonde 00 if you're looking for something very light) and the result was a warm, golden but bright look. Kiss Of Life finished it off perfectly.

Colour Intensity: very high

Finish: light texture with little shine

Overall Rating: 5/5

Seventeen - Stay Pout lipstick in Just A Fling

This is definitely a blog post that takes me back to my early teen years.

For those of you who don't know, Seventeen is a drug store make-up brand in the UK exclusively at Boots. I think the last time I purchased anything from this brand was in the early '00s and purely because Bliss magazine had suggested a particular Seventeen lipstick on a Britney Spears "Get The Look". Back then I was 12, Britney was my idol and Seventeen was the brand that my friends and I would talk about constantly.

Today, I thought I would give this make-up mogul another try. After all, 12 year old me may have spent more time playing The Sims than doing homework but she must have been pretty smart when it came to lipsticks.

I picked a couple of colours so tried on Just A Fling first. It applied incredibly smoothly. The colour caught the lips immediately with no need to keep adding layers, and the texture feels soft and light.

Just A Fling is a peachy, warm nude that is ideal for everyday wear. My lips feel like there's nothing on them, which I love, and not sure if it's the colour of the formula but I feel like my lips form more of a natural pout when I put this on.

Unlike the older style (I'm pretty sure it used to be a dark navy blackish colour) the case looks much more premium but with a price point of £4.49, you can't go wrong with this affordable secret weapon.

Colour Intensity: low to medium

Finish: light and creamy with a hint of gloss

Overall Rating: 5/5

Clinique - Pop lipstick in Poppy Pop

Apart from Chubby Sticks, Clinique and I have had a very distant affair when it has come to lipsticks. I don't know about you but when it comes to buying a lipstick, I don't instantly think Clinique.

However, since this new, colourful, colour-popping range came out, I've been a little bit hooked.  In my first shopping trip I bought three shades. The one that I cannot put down is Poppy Pop.

It's an in-between colour. A little bit of red, a dash of orange and a sprinkle of coral and you have one glossy colour that is difficult to replicate.

Clinique's Pop range means that you have a primer and a colour all in one great stick. The casing matches the colour inside (which, I love because it means you don't have to scramble through your lipstick chest of drawers - yes, I really do have this- to find the colour you're looking for).

The formula is very glossy. A little too glossy for my liking but the colour is rich and beautiful and the moisturising texture leaves your lips feeling heavenly. Clinique and I now have a lipstick affair that is as colourful as this range.

Colour Intensity: very high

Finish: glossy and moisturising

Overall Rating: 4/5
